The Open MRI is designed for claustrophobic or larger patients who find the traditional MRI too confining. For babies and young children the Open MRI is a good alternative to traditional High Field MRI, as it allows the patients mother/father or guardian to be present in the room with them. The High Field MRI is a staple of MRI technology. Tried and true over many years, it continues to deliver incredibly high quality images which doctors and physicians can use to diagnose and inform treatment of any number of medical conditions.
At VALLEY MRI AND RADIOLOGY INC we utilize GE 1.5 Tesla MRI scanner systems allowing “High-Field, High Resolution” images. Scan times range from 15 to 40 minutes. To enhance patient comfort, our scanner is equipped with a radio so patients can listen to music during their exam as well as still be able to interact directly with your specialized technologist.
In addition, patients are welcome to have a family member or friend in the MRI suite with them during the exam. Some exceptions may apply.
All MRI studies and diagnostic reports are available to referring physicians via our on-line Web-based archival storage (PACS). Exam images are also available on CD.

MRI is short for Magnetic Resonance Imaging. MRI is an advanced technology that lets your doctor see internal organs, blood vessels, muscles, joints, and more-without x-rays, pain or surgery. MRI is very safe; in fact, it makes use of natural forces and has no known harmful effects! It is important to know that MRI will NOT expose you to any ionizing radiation and does not involve any pain.
The MRI machine creates a very precise magnetic field. Radio frequency waves can then be used to cause hydrogen protons in the body to “vibrate” or resonate. The energy of this vibration is collected with an antennae (called a “coil”) in much the same fashion as your radio antennae receives the signal from a local FM station.

YES. MRI machines use a strong magnetic field, which will move metal objects made with iron or steel, and can affect the function of electronic devices. You will be asked to fill out an MRI Screening Form to help us avoid any hazards to assure your safety.
